Ways to Celebrate World Kindness Day

Sure, most people would consider themselves a generally kind person. And let’s face it, being kind to others at least once a day would make the world a better place. So with World Kindness Day on November 13, you can use the passing of the event as a reminder to make a difference in someone’s day by simply being kind.

Show Your Praise
We all have times where we don’t feel like the work we do is appreciated. Many do great work that goes unnoticed. So go out of your way to let someone know that you appreciate a few coworkers’ efforts. You can mention it in passing or go so far as send them a personal note. Remember, your coworker doesn’t have to do something momentous to be thanked.

Kill Them with Kindness
So you may be thinking, what about that boss who you swear pushes your buttons on purpose, or your mother-in-law who always puts you down? It’s time to put the petty aside, and change your attitude—even if only for a day. Focus on the good things in your relationship with that person, and give them all the kindness you give to others. Besides, they might even decide to follow your lead and it could wind up improving your relationship.

Do Something About It
Sometimes doing speaks louder than, well, speaking. Think of ways that you can act on your thoughts of kindness. Sometimes the best gifts are unexpected, and can be given just because you appreciate someone. Whether it’s a card showing you care, a plate of cookies you baked or flowers to brighten someone’s day, the littlest thoughts count. You can also show your kindness by giving back to the community. Spend a few hours of your Saturday volunteering near your home.
